Islamic Clothing

Quran is the holy book used by all Islam followers throughout the world.  The book lays certain rules and regulations and prescribes a way each person is supposed to behave.  The book laid rules about the behavior of people, the number of prayers they should do during the day as well as the dress code; therefore Islamic clothing is different than the rest of world.

The dress code for Islamic clothing happens to be the most important factor in the style of living of any Muslim.  There are several dress’ guidelines laid down by the Quran for Muslims to follow. However, you will find many interpretations to the dress laws regarding Islamic clothing.

Quran says that each people should be dressed modestly and conservatively, so that no show of skin happens, be it a man or a woman. Islamic clothing therefore, requires men to dress completely and cover themselves up from their shoulders to their ankles, so that not a thing is visible to any one.

Islamic clothing is also supposed to be loose. Especially for women who should dress loose enough that their body curves are not visible to any person outside. Islamic clothing for men too should be loose enough so that none of their body figures show in public. Any show of immodesty in Islamic clothing is abhorred.

Islamic clothing therefore, is also subtle and not flashy. Wearing anything flashy too is a no-no according to the dress laws.  Islamic clothing should always be proper. That means it should not be ragged, neither should it be so rich that it starts intimidating anyone in public. Islamic clothing should be such that it does not attract pity not should it attract envy.

Islamic clothing should be made out of thick cloth. Clothing that shows skin even though it is a complete dress does not qualify to be Islamic clothing. Therefore the cloth out of which a dress is made should be thick enough not to show skin and not to be transparent.

Islamic clothing also lays down the rules for the colors of the dress. No Islamic clothing can be made of bright or flashy colors. It has been prescribed that Islamic clothing should be of dull earthy colors or the traditional black and white.
