The safest way to care for your hijab or any Middle Eastern clothing is to delicately hand-wash the item in cold water using Woolite detergent. Some items will specify dry clean only.

12. How do I wash an acrylic Amira hijab? back to top
Acrylic Amira hijabs or other Middle Eastern clothing made of acrylic may be washed or dry cleaned. Use warm water setting, and add a fabric softener to the final rinse cycle when using a washing machine. Machine dry at low temperature and remove from dryers as soon as garments are dry. Wash delicate items such as anything with beadwork, sequins or netting by hand in warm water. Woolite is very gentle on clothing and is recommended. Gently squeeze out water, smoothen or shake out garment, and let dry on a non-rust hanger.

13. How do I wash a cotton Amira hijab? back to top
Amira hijabs made of cotton can be laundered easily. Cotton can withstand high temperatures but items may shrink. Any good detergent can be used to wash cotton but the best to use is Woolite. Chlorine bleach can be used safely on cotton whites. Use color safe bleach on dyed cottons. Since cotton fibers are fairly inelastic, cotton fabrics may wrinkle easily and so they may need frequent pressing. Cotton does not scorch easily and can be ironed with a hot iron.

14. How do I wash a polyester Amira hijab? back to top
Most items made from polyester can be machine washed and dried. Polyester Amira hijab, like most polyester garments, can be dry cleaned. Use warm water and add a fabric softener to the final rinse cycle. Machine dry at low temperature setting and remove articles as soon as the tumbling cycle is complete. If ironing is needed, use a moderately warm iron.
